I want to claim back VAT paid twice...

I've just had the postman deliver an order which only cost €6 but which was sent from the UK. I have already paid €4 in VAT (TVA FR) but had to pay an additional €9 = €1 TVA + €8 fee. How can you charge VAT and then fail to prevent this from happening? I don't think I will ever order from the UK through CDandLP.com again.

Hi, i believe that´s not the VAT. It should be Custom Duties (frais de douane) charged by your country. It already happened to me when orders come from outside EU. It doesn´t happen always but sometimes it does. Best regards

The only Customs duties are the VAT on imports. When contacted the Customs themselves reject the need for these payments so it's just the post office. The only reason there is a charge is that the VAT has not been allocated correctly by CDAndLP.com This kind of issue does not happen on Discogs any longer. I should have the right to claim the VAT back from CDandLP since they took the charge and I've paid it again.
